About me

My name is June Caress and I am a musician, singer songwriter and I got my first guitar when I was four years old and loved learning to play it!

I joined the Rivermount Folk Group in Finglas when I was 13 years of age. Whilst there, our folk group leader, Martin Cahill taught me how to play guitar for the church but also taught me Irish traditional music.

I have been a Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Bass Guitarist, and Pianist, . I am a songwriter within a few different genres and can also play the tin whistle, as well as currently learning the violin.

I was part of Ireland’s first female Ballad Group, “Ladies View” and, while I love traditional Irish music, I have experience with many different genres.

Working as a backing vocalist with my friend Bernie Comiskey who was the lead singer of Bella Donna, we performed as support in the Alsa Club to Joe Dolan.

I also worked with Azurian Dawn on original music and played a number of venues throughout Dublin.

As well as the Edinburgh Music Festival Scotland, and The Emsworth Oyster Festival in Chichester England, I have also performed in the Temple Bar Music Festival here in Dublin, Ireland and several more. I have been greatly inspired by many musicians, but would have to mention Fleetwood Mac, Phil Collins, Neil Young, David Bowie, and Aslan as many of the primary influences throughout my career.

Music is my passion and I cannot express how much I love working with other musicians, seasoned and beginners. I have worked with Eddie O Brian, Dave Shanahan, and Jason Byrne just to name a few. I have also been in several bands including the Rivermount Folk Group, Azurian Dawn, and Jagged Edge. From 1988-1999 I performed with Dave Shanahan and Jason Byrne as a Singer/Guitarist in Various Locations.

I have done charity work for the Simon Community, Temple Street , and Friend’s of the Elderly in Ireland. In 1990 I got to the Finals of both the Royal Oak and Drake Inn singing competitions and came second in the Drug awarness Competition with my Demo tape (My written and performed song “No Way Out” came fifth.
